Why do my breaks whistle?

A couple of possibilities:

1. Brake dust build up (not serious just take your car to the car wash)

2. Cheap brake pads probably installed by the dealer that sold the car to you when they got the car in. (generally only annoying but may wear out sooner)

3. improperly adjusted brakes. If you don't trust the brake shop/cervice center, and it's not brake dust, just get a second opinion. many reputable brake shops will check them for free.

If you are not having actual problems with the actual braking it is more than likely cheap brake pads. just change them out when you can afford or deal with the annoyance.

If they said it was ok maybe it is. Just to be on the safe side, take it to another place and get a second opinion. My brakes whistled too but I got the brake pads replaced and it stopped.

Take it to a car wash and put the hose near the brakes to power wash out the brake dust that may have collected. This happened with my truck and fixed it right away.

Does it do it all the time?

I have a car and the breaks will squeak when cold.

If this is happening all the time, most times the brakes need new pads

Its a warning system. When they start to whistle that means they will need to be changed soon. It is sort of an amber light. Not red yet but not green anymore. I see you had them checked but other than that they shouldn't whistle.

This just happened to me and I needed new brake rotors. One had actually fallen off! Get to a brake shop pronto!!

that happened to me too. I don't know why they do that but is not bad. There is a way to get rid of it I'm not sure how but you should take it to a shop that's what I did it only cost me abou 30 dlls

Either they have dust on them, or you need new brakes. Get them checked out. You don't want to lose them going down hill

Brake pads could be wearing down.
