USA may have performed better than last game, but the reason why they didn't win today was because of their total lack of discipline, NOT the refereeing.
Those two-legged tackles would've been called by any referee, in any circumstances, and one WAS called in the Serbia-Argentina game when Kezman was sent off for doing the same thing. If you are familiar with the rules like you claim you are, you should know that a two-legged tackle on a player without the ball warrants an automatic red card. The US players who performed those tackles did not go for the ball at all, it's a show of considerable lack of sportsmanship and lack of respect for their teammates and the other team.
The thing for the US to do right now is to focus on their self-control, instead of blaming the ref for everything, because if they just sit and whine like u do, they're never going to improve.
If the ref was paid by the Italians like u alleged, why did the De Rossi get a red card for ACCIDENTALLY elbowing McBride. (It was accidental because the replay clearly shows that De Rossi was looking at the ball, and had no idea where McBride's head was.) That red card had a considerable impact on Italy's game, and forced the early withdraw of Francesco Totti, which is the reason why the US did not lose. Americans got lucky because Totti, the heart of the Italian offense, was not on the field.
By the way, If USA goes to the next round, their opponent in the second round will most likly be Brazil, and they certainly can't afford to foul as much as they did today.
I hope you don't consider my above answer "offensive", because it is merely a combination of facts and common sense.

Yes, the Italians choked because they could not make the one-man advantage count. But the referee right about the first two red cards ( I didn't see the 3rd). Any one who's had an opposing player's cleats rammed into his ankle knows the pain involved. The ref was right there to view the first two incidents and I agree with the sending offs. Because if the ref was paid $$ he would not have red carded the Italian. I've seen worse hits that have only gotten a yellow card. I think it was a very dramatic, exciting game and I hope we have more of them. BTW, you should know that I loathe the Italian team and have done so ever since they lost to S. Korea and fired Ahn who was playing for Perrugia in 2002 for scoring against them and was actually happy that Beasley put the ball in the net (that too was a correct decision because Mcbride was in an off side position). I hope Italy doesn't make it out of this round.

I can't believe that the referee was that bad. I mean ejecting three players in one match. I can see the Italy player being ejected but the two Americans? I don't know about that.
I really hope that the US beats Ghana and can win with a goal differential big enough to get them through to the second round.

Italy did NOT suck! Italy didn't get scored on in five minutes and lose a game 3-0. Usa actually tied the game with luck. Soccer is definently NOT Usa's sport, unlike Italy.

It certainly sets up an interesting last match for that group. All I'm hoping for is an Italian loss and a winner between the US & Ghana. That would eliminate the Italians just as I predicted before the World Cup started.
The Italian side won't be able to go home for a couple of months.

Even tho USA played a great game i have to remind you that a referee disallowed an Italian goal too which was a mistake. Disallowing the American goal wasn't a mistake. So...there you go, that's football. Good luck to USA against Ghana

If you think your knowledge of soccer is alot better than ours, then why are you still asking for our opinion? the answers some people gave was from their opinion and I don't think it should count as "offensive" if it's different from yours. Both teams commited a lot of fouls and the ref can't just let them go by. there were 37 in total!
Oh yeah..I still say the ref did a fair job.

Lemme tell you something pal, just because the players chose to disobey the rules does NOT make the referee bad for handing out the appropriete punishment. Those players deserved what they got.

Calm down, you've still got to get out of the group stage yet....
And yes, I love it when the Iti's get beaten, they dive worse than the Agentinians and don't worry, the whole team will be crucified by the media over there...
P.S. I'm not American
They might have disallowed an Italian goal, but they disallowed an American one too, for passive offside...

It was nice to finally see a spark from our US team. I was extatic when my hometown boy Beasley (at the time) scored a goal. I started jumping and yelling "Fort Wayne!" non-stop...until they called off the goal. Bastards. The ref was terrible, but it was nice to see us stay in it and hold off Italy while being a man short. Great game.
