Which software plays files having avi format?

I had downloaded DivX player few days back,but still I m unable to play some clips.So should I download Window's media player codecs?

    windows player you can download addons to it

    there are tons of them

    go to downloads.com and look for freeware avi player they will pop up tons

    they have free and trial products

    Windows Media Player 10 with the Codecs package and you are set.

    you can play it on windows media player but youmight have to download a codec for it.

    You probably need to download the AC3 sound codec. Just google it and you'll find it.

    I would recommend vlc media player or media player classic either will work both are free
