Please forgive me for what I am about to say!?
It seems like 90% of the people asking questions, can not spell! Are they for real? Are they doing it on purpose?

i have been asking myself this same question. it's mind blowing. very odd since there is a SPELL CHECK box right above the answer box. very odd indeed.

LOL. I've noticed that too. What I have learnt though, is that there are a lot more kids (11-16) on this site than we may realize. They are accustomed to using slang or what I call "broken lingo" to communicate when on the inter-net. So, maybe they think it's acceptable here as well. Others, I think, just don't care. They may miss-spell words and not bother to correct themselves - some of them, believe-it-or-not, may not even notice the "Check Spelling" feature!

I doubt that they are doing it on purpose. It's likely that (1) they are typing in a hurry and not re-reading their work, (2) they haven't used the Check Spelling feature, or (3) they have a poor grasp of the English language.

Some of it does seem to have been done deliberately, as in cases where people are using abbreviations or "cutsie-speak," but as another respondent has already said, many simply don't care about spelling/checking their spelling. Poor grammar is bothering me nearly as much as poor spelling on this site, as sometimes I don't even understand the questions people are posing (and sometimes they aren't even posing questions!).

Im not good at spelling and spell check does not pick up all the words. But I think some people do short hand cause they are lazy!

They probably don't do it on purpose but they just don't give it much thought as long as the readers know what they mean. Most people don't care about spelling.

I think they just don't care. Personally, though, I think proper spelling and punctuation on the internet is a way of showing respect.

Ever hear of public education ?
Now _THAT'S_ for real.
All evidence has been "in" for some time.
Even those living on the dark side of the moon have heard the rumor.
