File | New | Personal Folder (.pst)

Name the PST file something easy to remember. Then also name the Folder name (As it appears in Outlook) exactly as you named the PST file.

Then copy or move all of your data in to the PST.

Once you have save everything in the PST you must exit all Outlook items. This is very important.

Once you are sure all Outlook items are closed, you may then save a copy of the PST file to a CD or DVD.

You now have backed up Outlook.

    To restore.

Save the PST file back to the hard drive. Then (important) go to the properties of the PST file on the hard drive and UNCHECK the read-only property (very important).

    Now go to Outlook.

File | Open | Personal Folder (pst)

Navigate to the PST on your hard drive and open it.

You can now copy or move items from the PST back to Outlook folders.

file-->import and export-->export to a file-->personnel folder file .pst (backup all the outlook data u have, may takes a lot of time)-->select what and where to backup the data

  • you can export all your data to a pst, and later import that pst into your new outlook installation. the pst can be set (while exporting) to contain all the information of your outlook profile.
