Why are kids now a days so in a rush to grow up?

When I was a boy, I was never in a rush to grow up. Why do these kids not know how good they have it while they are young? What are they rushing toward? Responsibility? Why not just take advantage of their childhood while they have it?

Bay, you weren't in a rush to grow up cause back then there wasn't anything to grow up for. It was okay for kids to be kids because we didn't have the technology back then or the tv shows that displays all of the "bling bling". I blame society cause all kids see now-a-days is what the celebs have. Instead of getting good grades in school, they drop out to make some quick money to get that car, with those rims, and that iced out chain. It's sad. They don't understand that they are living the life right now, by NOT being an adult and having responsibilities like we have. I wish I could go back to high school and NOT have responsibilities.

Actually, we r now completely materialistic.

    We want 2 things

    1.Luxury (thus money)

    2.Sex

Since both earning capacity as well as libido peak in the youth, so these days, youth is the only time of life that matters.

Children want 2 grow up, middle aged want 2 stop ageing.

In my country (long, long ago) innocence of childhood & wisdom of old age was valued & respected.

While I'm not a "Indian culture vs Western culture" fanatic at all, I can't help noticing this particular effect.

Unfortunately, this silly attitude is what we've imported, & not the good qualities like work culture & dignity of labour...
