Can anyone tell me what a "sugar glider" is?

I see them listed for sale in our classified ads as "hand-fed sugar gliders". There is never a price listed.

Update:

Do they make good pets?

Sugar gliders or Petaurus Breviceps are tree dwelling marsupial possums native to Australia, Indonesia, and New Guinea. These little guys are nocturnal so they're only active at night. An adult glider is around 5-7 inches long with a fluffy tail that's around 5-7 inches. They weigh around 135 grams.

They're wonderful pets to have but these are exotic high maintenance pets. You have to chop up fruits and veggies nightly. They can have a bit of an oder to them but if they're on a good diet they hardly smell at all. An intact male however has more of an oder. Its not bad but you can easily take care of the problem by neutering.

The Sugar Glider (Petaurus breviceps), sometimes called the Flying Sugar, is a small gliding possum native to eastern and northern mainland Australia, New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago, and introduced to Tasmania.

They are the cutest little things! They are like mini flying squirrels. Thats the best way I can describe them, except they have these huge buggy eyes, absolutely adorable! I would say no, they don't make good pets. They are still relatively undomesticated, and need a lot of special attention. They are also pretty expensive to buy. Certain by laws may not even allow them.

Sugargliders area small marsupials from Austrailia. They are about the size of a hamster or small rat. They are grey with black markings on their face and stripe down the back. If you're considering taking one of these little guys on as a pet, I would encourage you STRONGLY to do lots of research. They are exotic animals and require special care. Try doing a search on Google. There are lots of good pages and images that come up. Hope this helps!!!

They are great pets to have, but you have to make sure to buy 2 or more of them cause if you only buy one they will get lonely and kill themselves. That is what happen to my first one but then I got 2 more and they are still alive but they are a bit pricey.
