I have noticed more and more people going from movie theater to the next without paying, isn't this stealing?
With large multiplex theaters parents have found this to be a cheap babysitter for the day, they pay for one movie and leave the children there for the whole day for the child to go from movie to movie for free. If they stole a candy bar in a store this is considered stealing isn't this the same, or even more the reason why ticket prices have increased. Is this a new social issue in society that we can take what we can when we can for free without any moral consideration.

Yes. You must tell management when you are aware of the problem. Many people in society "turn a blind eye and a deaf ear" to what is happening all around them everyday because they don't want to get involved or they are guilty of the same or something similar. We all pay higher prices due in part to the thieves that think they are smarter than the rest of us. Well, you, myself and others need to decide...are they smarter than the rest of us, will we allow their actions to dictate how much more us consumers will have to pay for their sins??? As far as the parents, if they are indeed taking the route of the cheap babysitter, then what message are they teaching their children? This will be the next generation that the rest of us will have to tolerate and most likely will have to "baby-sit" financially because they will want freebies instead of working and earning a living. It's a frightening thought.

If you see this happen, you should report it to the theatre's manager. This IS stealing. I also believe it is very much a social issue, but it isn't that new. People have been taking whatever they can get away with for quite some time now, and that includes driving, when they speed through a red light because they can get away with it.
This has become a general problem, at least in the United States (I don't know about other countries; I live in the U.S.). People do things that are illegal or morally wrong because they don't think they would be caught.
Again, I urge you to report anybody you see doing what you described to the theatre's manager. Maybe they'll start checking people's tickets at the door of the individual theatres, and not just at the entrance to the theatre area. I think they should (or do random checks of tickets within theatres before a show starts).

thats true it is stealing, and if it was me I would be pointing out everyone one of the little idiots I saw doing that to the managers of the theater. I would assume if it got bad enough they might even get into some serious legal trouble but I don't know if it would get that far, they would probably just get kicked out.. the first time at least.

I would consider it stealing. One would think that the theaters would have ushers or someone to watch for this kind of thing. There are always people looking for the free ride, no matter what it is.

Obviously, YES, this is "stealing". The purchased ticket entitles one person to see one movie - the one they asked the ticket seller to sell them. That's it. Honest people should report anyone they see moving from theater-to-theater.

If theaters crack down on these theatre hoppers and bootleg illegal copied movies commonly sold on the streets, ticket prices wouldn't be ten bucks.

yes thats stealing, and teaching kids wrong morals too, shame on them, the theatres need to use some sorta new system so that it can be stopped, and if they are caught, they should be banned from that theatre and pay a fine ..lol thought should stop them .

I dont go to movie theaters as I would rather burn my own or rent them. Nothing in one was is stealing unless you get caught lol

definite, it rather is stealing. the certainty that the 2nd movie is empty is irrelavent and you have robbed the owner of the skill to sell the seat you have stolen. it is likewise a criminal trespass. there is no gray section right here.

I view this the same way I view downloading music.
It is art which is meant for the masses and one cannot expect a kid with a five dollar allowance to feel guilt for trying to experience it.
