Help with scoring!?

I have been starting to keep score at the games.Since I am new at this i have been coming home and seeing how my score card matches up with the internet.I'm not sure if I understand this or not but from what I see, a sacifice fly doesn't count as an at bat but just a regular sacrifice does.Am I right?why? Please help me out.

Update:

So if a batter just hits a ground ball and it happens to move runner then it is an at bat because what I noticed was that they call all sacrifices "at bats" except for sacrifice flies.

A sacrifice fly is not an official at bat. A sacrifice bunt is not an official at bat. That is because it is assumed that both actions are intentionally giving up an out to advance the runner. A simple ground out that happens to advance a runner is assumed to be an attempt to get a hit, and thus is not considered a sacrifice, even though it has the same effect as a sacrifice bunt. Thus it is considered an official at bat.

A sacrifice bunt which actually results in the runner being advance, being put out, is charged as a sacrifice and an at bat to to batter.

A bunt which is intended to be a sacrifice, but instead results in a perfect bunt where the batter is not put out, and, all runners are safe, is to be counted as a hit for the batter and an at bat.

That is correct. A sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt do not count as official at bats. However, if a player has a hitting streak and hits a sacrifice fly as a pinch hitter and that is his only at bat, the hitting streak ends.
