Windows XP Home, Internet Explorer 6: When I use Find (CTRL+F), it closes my IE window every time. Why?

When I hit CTRL+F in an Internet Explorer window (to find something in a Web page), the entire window closes. How can I fix this? Again, Windows XP, and Internet Explorer 6. Thank you.

Update:

I have installed Service Pack 2.

Update 2:

This doesn't happen in any other program--only Internet Explorer.

Does this happen outside of Internet Explorer?

In other words, test CTRL-F in other programs like Microsoft Word or Notepad. Most importantly, we would also need to know if this has worked fine before in the past.

It would appear at this point that perhaps the keys on your keyboard aren't specified the way you think they are. Laptops are notorious for this. A lot of them have special function keys that can switch on options to cause certain keys to act differently.

    **** UPDATE ****

Did you try going to Edit -> Find from the menu at the top? Does that option work correctly?

Because this doesn't happen in other apps such as Notepad, it's not an issue with your keyboard at least. That's a good thing!

I as much as date to it approximately 2 months in the past and have had no issues of it. All it is is a protection improve to plug a number of the holes IE 7 had. no longer something surprising! I do discover that's slightly swifter whether I constantly disable all of the junk on it like Feeds, Tabs, internet Slices, In inner maximum and Phishing by way of fact they are the flaws that slow any browser down.

Due to the virus.. Install Service pack 2 / IE service pack 1 and antivirus.... and then try it. If still not then remove ie and then reinstalled it again
