Non-hormonal methods of birth control?

I am tired of being fat and am going off of hormonal birth control. My husband and I always use two forms of birth control, however. We will continue using condoms, but does anyone have any recommendations for a second method? I don't trust just one. We don't want children and can't take any risks. Any help would be appreciated!

Update:

I am trying to convince my husband to get a vasectomy, but he's a scaredy cat. So we're going to try some other methods first.

i use the ParaGard iud...it is copper but non hormonal..your doctor puts it in for you and it lasts for up to 10 years...you have to have the doctor take it out for you cause if you do it yourself you can rip your cervix.

The link is below. Im really happy with it.

Since you've been taking the pill all this time, why don't you have your husband do something that will take care of the birth control question from his end.

If he takes a very hot bath, every day, for 20 or so days, that should render his "stuff" useless for at least four months. No joke.. See link below.

I would suggest the non-hormonal IUD. Also, if you still want to use a back-up after that, you might want to try using Vaginal Contraceptive Film. (Just be sure that neither of you has reactions to the spermicide.)

There are always research groups conducting test with monogamous couples. Check with univeristies or medical centers in your area.

You can be fitted with a diaphragm, cervical cap or IUD. There are also spermicidal sponges and foams available.

IF YOU DON'T WANT CHILDREN, ONE OF YOU NEEDS TO GET FIXED. Accidents do happen, and then you would be having a baby you don't want.
