Fun things to do in Chicago?
If I am looking to visit Chicago in the fall what are some things I should do there to really see the sights?
Restraunts? Buildings? Tours? Theater? Opea?

Chicago in the fall is so amazing!
I would definitely hit the Art Institute and the Field Museum (which has an outstanding King Tut exhibit going on through the fall).
Navy Pier is ok. If you have kids, then it's worth going. If you don't, there isn't really much to do unless you love Ferris Wheels and want to go to the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
As for restaurants, in the Michigan Ave. area I highly recommend:
Grand Lux Cafe (a very reasonably priced restaurant with an extensive menu)
Volare (good italian on Grand St, East of Michigan Ave)
Quartino (italian tapas on State and Ontario)
Other restaurants out of the Mich. Ave area that I love:
Le Bouchon (french bistro in Bucktown)
Wildfire (steakhouse on Erie in River North)
I would visit different neighborhoods to get a local flavor. I love Chinatown, Bucktown, and Wicker Park.
Go to some jazz and blues clubs: Hothouse on Balbo has some great music, as does Rosa's on Armitage.
For tours, you can't go wrong with the Architectural boat tour!
I hope this helps you! Have a great time visiting Chicago!

As far as buildings go, travel to South Wabash ave. to see the oldest house in Chicago, The Clarke House (http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/barsandclubs/32... They have recently rehabbed it and hold tours on a daily basis/
If you go a little further south, check out the University of Chicago campus. Not only are the school's building's facinating, but the area is home to Frank LLoyd Wright's Robie House (http://www.wrightplus.org/robiehouse/tours.php), probably one of the best examples of his Prairie School style of design. They also host tours of the home.
There are tours of downtown Chicago architecture that you can take (http://www.fineliving.com/fine/adventure_selects/t... and the Chicago Cultural Center also has tours(http://egov.cityofchicago.org/city/webportal/porta... Or you can take a tour of Chicago architecture from the river on a Wendella Boat tour (http://www.wendellaboats.com/chicago.htm). I highly recommend this one. I takes you from the river, out to the lake and back.
If you're interested in theater in Chicago, start here: (http://www.chicagoplays.com/). The League of Chicago Theaters lists almost every production going on in the city, from the big stage one to the storefront smaller theater companies. the smaller theaters don't get as much publicity as the bigger ones and as such most tourists never get to see the smaller companies. But just remember, when it first began, the Steppenwolf Theater company was a storefront operation; now it's given the world John Mahony (Frasier's dad), John Malcovich, Gary Sinese, Laure Metcalf (Rosanne's sister), etc. And you can always check out Second City. Most people for some reason consider Second City improv. It's not. It's a carefully scripted show, a series of comedy vignettes with a central theme (this month's show is called "War! Now in it's Fourth Smash Year!"). It's theater, although on Saturday nights at midnight they do have a FREE improv show.
have to admit I don't know much about opera, but we do have it here. There's the Lyric Opera (http://www.lyricopera.org/), the Chicago Opera Theater at Millenium Park (http://www.chicagooperatheater.org/) , although they're done for the season; the Light Opera Works (http://www.light-opera-works.org/) in Evanston, not that difficult to get to on public transportation.Hope that helps

Theatre- without a doubt -it's everywhere! Make sure you go to Second City for the Improv. Stay away from the Science & Industry museum as it's dummied down to the sixth grade level now. Wrigley field (go Cubs!) and the excellent restaurants everywhere.
Chicago is awesome, you can get almost anywhere via the "L" so have a great time :)

Go to the Art Institute of Chicago. It is an awesome museum, and it's close to the Navy Pier, so you could do both. You could also try to get tickets to Oprah - but I wouldn't wait until you get there. You have to request them in advance.
