Who is your favorite painter and painting?
My favorite painter by far is Rembrandt. I fell in love with his works when I saw them displayed in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
My favorite painting is The Kiss, by Francesco Hayez. It looks very realistic, and the man bears a little resembelence to Inigo Montoya :P

So, what's your favorite painter and painting! And, for painting, please post a link so we all can see!

Okay, I know this will sound pretty cliche, but I really do love Starry Night by Van Gogh. I remember learning about this painting (and Van Gogh himself) in an art history class I took at a community college while still in high school. Just the history behind it itself always make me feel so sad, but it is still really beautiful. I also love Impression, Sunrise by Monet.

I think he looks sort of like Orlando Bloom in Pirates, lol. (Nice hat.)
Hmmm well art history is a pet topic of mine...I love many many styles of art, from many different periods. I think a painting is a glimpse into the soul of the painter; it lets us see how he or she saw the world and felt about life at that time, so it's all fascinating to me. I honestly don't think I could ever pick just one work...that would be like picking just one poem~c'est impossible!!!

Luis Royo. http://www.luisroyo.com/
My favorite pieces of work r the ones with a single woman. The whole painting is black white and gray, xcept for one item. Either a tirbal tatto design is red or her dress is blue. The colors arent bright or dark, but they standout cuz the whole painting is an even flow of black white and gray.
U migh have to google or yahoo these, but check out these collections of work he's done:
-Subversive Beauty
-Tattoos
-Millennium
-Prohibited Books 1,2,3
-Conceptions Books 1&2

I also love Monet, but since he's been mentioned I'll share tow other Romare Bearden's "Quilting Time" which is really a mosaic mural. Another is Jacob Lawrence's Migration series and Hiroshima series.
