i think that for first timers they did really well...played with a lot of spunk and determination especially viduka and kewell. that penalty against italy was horribly unfair cuz australia practically dominated the whole match. bad luck for the socceroos...but im sure they'll rock it next time...

I think they have had a good World Cup.
Guus Hiddink have done a good job, even though I think he made some mistakes, especially in the game with Italy.
With Japan, Cahill (late) entrance was fundamental for the game (2 goals), but Japan lack of experience (3 goals in 8 min. in the last 10 min. of the game). Yet, it showed some character on the Socceroos.
With Brasil they did not do so good, but they had the best Team in the world in front of them.
The game with Croatia showed again some character, with a late equalizer from Kewell, probably the most important player they have (with Viduka). And again, some of the merit goes to Hiddink and his way of "assembling" player on the field.
The game with Italy was a big Hiddink's flop: they played the second half with an extra-man, but their play was too slow and too predictable, due to the presence of only one forward (Viduka) marked by Cannavaro and five midfielders (versus only 3 from Italy). The addition of a striker came too late and the foul in the penalty box was not the best choice of play for the Australian defender. They had a larger ball possession (too slow play and midfield superiority) but the chances on goal were superior for Italy.
If I have to give them a vote (1 to 10) I will give them a 6.

the aussie team /outlasted japan and the croation coach used defensive tactics each time they got in front thats asking for trouble and the AUSTRALIAN foul was correct and penalty valid.
SORRY I AM TELLING YOU THE WAY I SAW IT TOTTALY UNBIEST.
