    Websters Third New International Dictionary (unabridged)

    defines remuda as "The herd of saddle horses from which are chosen those to be used for the dayby the ranch hands:\ a relay of remounts."

    The word comes from the French and also Spanish verb remudar which means to exchange.; to change.
