What Handgun did Detective Harry Callahan (Played by Clint Eastwood) carry in the movie "Dirty Harry"?

I believe it was a Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum model 29 six-shot revolver with a 6.5-inch barrel.

Dirty Harry is now outgunned: Smith & Wesson has introduced its biggest handgun ever, a .50-caliber Magnum.

The five-shot revolver with an 8 1/2-inch barrel weighs about 4 1/2 pounds -- roughly a pound more than the black .44-caliber Magnum wielded by Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry movies. He used a blueSmith and Wesson Model 29, .44 Magnum revolver, with a 6 1/2 barrel.

The Famous Smith & Weeson Model 29 caliber .44 Rem Mag. 6" Barrel. Replaced in production by the Stainless steel 629.

In the D./H. mvs.C. Estwd.gun was suppose to be a Sm./Wesson revolver Model 29,-44 calibure Magnum 357 6/1/2 ins.Barrell, but S./Wsn. didn't have any in stock so he used a S,/Wsn. model 57 .41 Magnum & called it 44 Magnum, the most powerfull gun around.

In D./Harry-Magnum Force he got to use the actual S./Wsn. Model 29 revolver in the opening shot of the movie & then back to the one used in prev. movie. It was a 6 shooter as most Magnum revolvers of the era were.

Although Harry was supposed to use a SandW Model 29 .44 Mag, the actual gun used was the Model 57 in .41 Magnum
