    Smoking does not dilate the vessels, but constricts them, decreasing blood flow to all areas of the body, especially the extremities(arms, legs, hands, feet) which is especially detrimental to a diabetic, since circulatory problems increase the risk of losing part or all of the lower extremities(legs and or feet). That's why you see so many diabetics who later have to have partial amputations. Smoking compounds this risk. Not a good idea, especially for a diabetic.

    It constricts the small blood vessels in your fingers and toes and lack of circulation is one of the results of diabetes. It's not good for anyone to smoke, but especially a diabetic.
