May I ask why English say Portugal cheated? I starting to think they saw a different game...?

To be fair I thought the ref had blown the whistle because rooney had been fouled by two Portuguese players. If he had fallen over like he had been shot, which alot of Portuguese players seem to do, he would have been awarded a free kick. But being the honest Englishmen he was, he fought for the ball. At the end of it all he stupidly lashed out. What gets on every ones nerves was that Ronaldo sprinted up to the ref and pleaded for him to be sent off. Ronaldo had been unfairly winding Rooney up the whole match, even going as far as headbutting him at the kick off. Ronaldo knew he had a temper and when he winked at the team bench after the sending off every one knew that he had done his work in getting Rooney sent off. Ronaldo is supposed to be a team mate of Rooney and it is the English Public in Television subscriptions etc.. that enable Ronaldo to earn the millions he does. To be fair neither team was worthy of winning the world cup and England actually played better with 10 men ad Portugal never looked like scoring. Last night people say that Henry of France dived to get a penalty and I for one agree. I hope you Portuguese now know how it feels to be cheated. Perhaps if you had seen the match on the BBC where they clearly showed Ronaldos antics against a fellow professional you would understand why people thing the Portuguese team are cheats and divers.

Portugal didnt cheat. The English didnt take the game yet Rooney bit the bait when he fell for the old "he did it" routine. That's not cheating, that's called "foolishness". A guy like that should know that his opposition will do that kind of thing because it happens all the time. However, I think Portugal failed to show that they are good enough to win the tournament because they couldnt beat 10 men in ordinary and extra time!!! Who knows, with their skillful coach in Scolari, they may pull off the impossible ;-)

when nuno valente made a clean tackle on lennon, and hargreaves started complaining it was a penalty, was that not cheating. yes it was because it was no way a penalty.

but you forget that, and instead say what ronaldo did was cheating. when ever someone makes a foul in any game the oppostion complain to the referee. i suppose then that every player of every team is a cheater.

I think it is referring to the fact that the ref was not necessarily going to send off Rooney until Cristiano Ronaldo came over and started remonstrating. He knows full well that Rooney has a rather bad temper and probably hoped that he would react the way he did.

Ana Sofia (pretty name!), the English said the same 2 years ago in the Euro cup (remember Sol Campbell's disallowed goal?). I tend to believe they just can't accept the fact they can't play good soccer (their "tactics" seems to be dumping long, high balls to the striker). Thus, since they are perfect and their soccer is the best ever, in this planet and around, the only explanation is... the others cheated. Voilà, end of story.

Thank you for asking the same question I did...Thank God there are others out there who support Portugal for a change instead of England...I'm sick of them and they're not even in the game anymore...To answer your question, they are sore losers, tempermental, and ABSOLUTELY hate to see any other country defeat them in anything, which currently happens to be the World Cup...Therefore, they prefer to play the blame game instead of swallowing their pride...
