I fell for that once...I was all excited. It looked official and the thing is I couldn't remember if I had entered a contest or not the numbers looked familiar but I wasn't sure so I contacted the lady back with my information name address etc. No checking account info. thankfully. Anyway she sent me papers to fill out and send to her saying that this money was being held for me and that she would need an account number in which to transfer the money to...I was going to give her my savings account number because at the time it only had like 150 dollars in it ya know just in case it was a scam...as it turns out it was just that I even called the woman and she really wouldn't talk to me I could barely understand her...the next e-mail she sent she said that I would have to give her something like 1500 buck to get the money out of the account in the first place...
My heart sank I was a little more than pissed at that point so I sent her an e-mail back (and most of this was just to guilt trip her for doing what she did, I was only 17-18 at the time) this was my response to her:
I am sorry but I will not be able to send you the papers or the money needed for the deed stamps because I am a rather poor American. I had thought that with this winning that my life and the life of my family would in turn be turned around. NO strings attached, HOWEVER, in recieving your last letter I believe that you along with many other people overseas are running a scam, trying to get unsuspecting Americans to give you certain amounts of money. Why? You people have to make money somehow don't you!? Well I appreciated the effort and the elaboracy of this but I once again am sorry. I have one other question why is it not since I have won the 2 million some odd dollars, why couldn't you deduct it from that, what if I put that on my remittance form? If my accusations are false please correct me tell me I am making it all up, however if it is not that I am wrong, and you are tell me why you are doing this and what made you do it. This is dishonnest and very disheartening I thought for ONCE maybe I hadn't got screwed over, maybe for ONCE I had gotten lucky, maybe for ONCE I could do something for my family to help them out. We really don't have much and we do have money problems...so the next time you people think about trying to do this to someone else think about this: Not everyone that lives in this country is rich. Not everyone in this country likes to be screwed over and lastly not everyone in this country is STUPID. I am sorry that I played along for as long as I did I am sorry I wasted your time if it really be that I did and I wish you the best of luck on your next person. Like I said before if I am wrong PROVE IT!
This was her address: oficinadeperez@ netscape.net
Her name was Susan Perez.
Don't reply to it, there is a website on the internet for lottery scams you can report them to that if you like...sorry I don't have the address offhand. Hope this helps.

It's a known scam, next thing you know they'll be asking for your account numbers.
Ask yourself this: when did you buy a ticket for UK lottery? And did you ever see someone win the lottery without buying a ticket?

Oh yeah, I won that one a few times, and also the Irish lottery! If you answer, they'll tell you to send money in order to get your prize... Then they'll drain your bank account, and sit back and laugh at you :)
