What are your all-time favorite beach reads? (please don't say Michel Foucault...)?

There's nothing like sitting on a sunny beach reading a great trashy or frothy book, like Bergdorf Blondes or Flowers in the Attic. What are your favorite beach books?

I'll admit, reading on the beach in Hawaii for my honeymoon last month, I brought a bunch of Lisa Klepyas and Stephanie Laurens (romance).

My fiance read "The Economist," "The Art of War," and a book of teachings by Plato.

He just doesn't get the concept of beach reading.

I like a good Mary Higgins Clark mystery when I'm on vacation. They move quickly, don't require my attention too much, and are entertaining. I read The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber last summer, and oh my!, that was a good, scandalous beachy read.

The last book I read on the beach was Chocolat, about four years ago. Good book.

Anything by Kurt Vonnegut because his books are breezy, easy reads that makes me laugh. If I had to choose one Vonnegut book, I'd make an unusual choice and say _Hocus Pocus_, an underrated book.
