Anyone got any great ideas for an ocean themed craft I can do with kids ages 8 to 13.?

I want something fun and interesting but not too difficult. Only serious answers please.

One I remember doing from school was making an ocean scene. (I suggest doing this outside)

Get like flat card board or poster board (something stiffer than paper) then take glue(bottle glue) and colored sands (found at places like Joannes, Michaels and other craft stores) and have them make their own beach/under water/ etc pictures.

You could also get some little shells, beads, yarn and paper and let them make little people for the pictures.

Let them dry for a couple hours and then they're ready to show off.

Here is one I did with girl scouts.

Got to a cigar store and get empty boxes (wood ones work best).

Have the kids gather sea shells and cut out pictures from magazines. (You can pick an ocean theme or any other that appeals to you).

You singe the edges of the cut out photos in irregular edges and spray both sides with a light coat of clear spray paint. (I did most of the photos sort of oval shaped).

Spray the shells with a coat of clear as well so that they will shine.

Gather the kids for assembly. Let them pick a box, a photo, and some shells.

Use either Elmer's glue or a hot glue gun to attach the photo to the center of the top of the box. Let them glue the shells around the photo as they please.

We used a bit of felt to line the inside bottom of the box.

These make nice keepsake boxes for the kids or their parents.

Now that you can do in home photo development if you have the digital camera and printer for it, it would be fun to use a photo of each child.
