What's with all the Bono bashing on Yahoo today?

Using his celebrity to do good works is a bad thing? Trying to alieve the poverty and suffering of our fellow human beings is wrong? What kind of small-hearted people are you?

Yes, he's a bit of a ham, but from what I can tell he's sincere about what he's doing.

Some people think that it's obscene for a multi-millionaire to try and help the poor. At least he's doing something about it.

My humble opinion is that there is a difference between Bono and President Bush.

Bono does seem to be asking us what our conscience is prompting us to do about the extremem poverty in the world that is raising a generation of starving, desperate people.

President Bush seems to have another agenda less to do with righting wrongs.

I do not see the need to bash Bono (and that has nothing to do with being a fan). Bashing our President....I prefer to think of it as constructive criticism and as a democracy we are allowed to disagree with our President. In fact, it is our responsibility as voters and Americans to not blindly follow. He's President. Not King. Not God.

Because he attacks rich nations, people and he is a rich person. Funny, but people made such a big deal when Princess Diana died; they said she was nice because she visited the sick and gave away money. BIG DEAL. Mother Teresa, lived in the poorest part of India and worked with those people, caring and feeding them. If Bono sold his possessions and moved to Africa to live and care for those people, I would applaud him. But standing up and saying there is a problem, does not really help. Thus, it is one thing to say there is a problem, and another to live it.

Anytime anyone says anything about anything, for any reason, someone will be mad, upset, or otherwise feel the need to made some stupid comment. When a famous celebrity says something, the stupid comments and bashing increase tenfold. Its human nature.

i like bono, and i'm conservative. i think that it's good that he uses his celebrity statis for charity and all that. i don't agree with his political point of view, but that's one single aspect about him and that shouldn't cloud mine or anyone else's judgement about him. why everyone else is bashing him, i have no idea. but hey, if you're gonna be a celebrity than there will be people out there who will bash you just for the hell of it.

Thank you! I agree100%. He has always been very involved both politcally and in humanitarian efforts. He is someone who is truly making a difference in the world.

    So much negativity... Jeez!

Well said!!!! I was thinking of that myself. He is doing the best he can and unlike Paris Hilton he is doing something GOOD with his name and fame.
