Asker's input . . .?

So I have asked a few questions, and depending on the question I have gotten different types of answers. For some of my questions I have gotten several good answers (IMO) on a topic I didn't really understand to begin with (why I was asking a question), but half of them contradicted the other half. In the end, I still didn't know what the answer was, because I had such good answers that couldn't all be correct.

For another question, I asked something after doing a little research first (since it's not too hard to google something). I received a couple of responses. One was nothing, and the other was just a recap of what I just read.

In both situations I didn't choose a best answer and sent it to a vote. I think that there should be a space where the asker can tell the voters why it was sent to a vote. Tell them what the asker liked and what the asker didn't like.

What do you guys think of this suggestion?

Good idea! I think we should be able to tell what we think about the questions we ask. Suggest it to yahoo!

If you're on the question page, you can use the "Add Details" option to the right of the question to explain why you're putting it to a vote, but you already know how to do that.

You can also click on the user's name or avatar to see if they have contact options available so you can contact them directly. Sometimes they can provide more information to back up their responses.

As far as the second question, though, unless you stated that you already had the info that you had found, you should probably have awarded best answer to the answerer who was able to also provide that info. A vote doesn't do much to resolve a question most of the time if you aren't able to decide on it yourself.

I'm not sure how what you're suggesting is different from the Added Details, but you can submit your suggestion via the "Tell us what you think" link at the bottom of the page or in the user forum linked in the upper right corner.

You can leave comments on your questions once they have been voted on.

I do wish this was a little bit more of a forum where you could reply to each answer immediately and not have to wait to just comment. Then I'm sure the people that just troll would fill the posts to the max. Another thing I think would be beneficial is to have the asker be able to delete BAD answers when someone is just annoying and trying to get 2 points, instead of reporting abuse which is not always complied with.

I would like to have the ability to comment on why I sent a question to vote. When faced with lack of good answers, I've just deleted my question.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get my questions featured. I'm not famous, but I asked a very good question about the California economy and got only 3 answers (none that really answered my question.) I had to delete the question. Meanwhile, there are featured questions that sound as dumb as "who wants world peace?".

I think it's an excellent idea. Have you suggested it to Yahoo!?
