Pain in my left shoulder after lifting weights?

I get a pain in my shoulder after doing bench presses/shoulder presses and various upper back exercises. Anything i could do to prevent pain after these? My right shoulder never hurts afterwards.

    take a break from lifting thats probaly your rotator cuff and you can really screw it up

    There could be a ton of reasons why your shoulder hurts. Double check your technique to make sure it is proper then check with your physician. It could be anything from a pulled muscle to arthritis to improper technique to rotator cuff damage. the cause of the pain will determine the treatment.

    Possible muscle tear/strain and associated inflammation atound the joint. Take a few weeks off those exercises that involve your shoulder. Then ease back into it with lower weights.

    go see a sports doctor...

    The pain could be a number of things, minor and nothing to worry about to something that could eventually be severe...

    Both of my shoulders are very weak and injured, and will be for life, but I am no doctor, so i suggest you go see one, just to be on the safe side...

    I damaged my shoulder years ago, but didn't know about it until the car crash. Get to a doctor and find out exactly what is wrong, and what exercises to do to strengthen it. You could make it worse by not knowing.

    My guess is you likely have an injury to that area, either to the rotator cuff or you've strained a ligament. You might want to see a doctor and then they can tell you what to do to stop it from continuing.

    Uh oh! You may be on the way toward a rotator cuff injury. You should go to the doctor for that. I know you are asking about prevention....but you should seek professional medical advice.

    just do exercises on your right shoulder or you can do shoulder exercises before and after you weiht lift. Such as rotating your shoulders round and round.
