Any thoughts on JPM rejoining Chip Ganassi Racing for a Nextel Cup ride?

I think it is great, although I have been in the racing business for 34 years I have mainly followed European style racing etc. I get more interested in Nascar all the time, the racing is fast, close and spectacular. Juan Pablo Montoya was great in CART and he was spectacular in F1, however he had allot of bad luck and as it happens with many good drivers they miss out on The Championship... many times caused by the lack of reliability or accidents and he had is fair share. I think he should have and deserved a World Title with F1, unfortunately it did not happen. I think it will be great and I think he will fit in well with the Nextel Cup crowd. He is fast, aggressive and is willing to take chances. he is also a great driver to watch. Lets keep an eye on him and wish him well. Dave Despain will at the least have more gossip to fill his already great show.....Good luck JP-Montoya. And lets face it he looks like he could be the long lost brother of Tony Stewart ???

I'd like to see Montoya go to nextel cup. The only problem is Ganassi Racing has not had much success with their Dodge program. The only driver that came close was Sterling Marlin's 2nd place finish in points a few years back.

I think Montoya would have a better shot with another team, like Everham or Roush racing.

NASCAR drivers have been known to do things such as throwing helmets at other drivers (during a race), so, looking at Juan Pablo's past record, he'll probably fit in quite well.

At the 2003 French Grand Prix he lost his temper with the Williams crew on the pit wall after concluding - incorrectly - that their refuelling strategy had favoured his team-mate Ralf Schumacher, who went on to beat him to the race victory.

Perhaps Chip Ganassi will put a `No Tennis' clause in his contract; as I recall, he missed the Bahrain and San Marino Grands Prix last year due to a `tennis-related' injury, although few in the paddock believed that one.

Perhaps that first-corner melee he triggered at Indianapolis earlier this month was a bit of an audition for NASCAR.

Source(s): Oh, just my observations, based on far too many years hanging around racetracks.

I think it's cool that Juan Pablo will hopefully be bringing snobby F1 fans like myself to the NASCAR circuit. I think it'll take Montoya a couple of years to adapt to Nascar, as well as find the six-fingered man who killed his father. I can see Montoya doing as well as Tony stewart, though he may have to leave Ganassi for one of the bigger teams

He's smart, NASCAR rules! It will be a challenge for him to go from f1 cars to stock cars, they are very different.
