How do you get your question to last longer than the few minutes it has on the front page as "recent"

I mean, how do you get more answers after it's off that page? No one looks any more after that. You can't get a nice answer that way :(

A couple of "mini" suggestions (because there's very little you can do).

    1. Post at a less busy time so it will remain on first page longer. I'm guessing that is late at night or early in the morning.

    2. Post q's on less popular subjects. Many people will go to the subject pages, and it will last longer there.

Aside from that, you could try reposting a similar question later (but I think it's against the rules to repost the same question).
