Should Yahoo! make a special action just for people who have no clue about anything but answer anyway?
The more questions I answer, the more I see responses from people who obviously have no Earthly idea what they are talking about. It gets frustrating because you would think that if you were clueless, you wouldn't want to broadcast to the World what a complete idiot you are by posting ridiculously wrong answers.
Should there be a special action button that would tally against you if your answer was just blatantly stupid? Maybe it would remove one of the two points that you got for posting, and could only be tallied once...then if you got strikes against you for say, 50% of your questions, then you go on probation or something. Continue being an idiot and you start losing levels?
Would this work as a preventative measure or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks.

It's a great idea, and something needs to be done, but there are too many askers on her who ask inane questions, also, so it would just be an endless cycle of frustration. I wish there was an easy answer to combat some of the childishness on here....Reporting them does help a bit, but who really wants to spend all their time on here policing others? I try to ignore the really stupid ones, that's about all your can do!

Isn"t the age of computors wonderful! You can go online and be as stupid as you want to be, say whatever you want, and nobody knows who you are!
One of my questions was" Can a answer be deleted by the asker?" I asked because I think one of my answers got the axe, I was not inappropriate, but the asker was, in my not so humble opinion. The answer I got was yes, the asker can delete. I have had no need to try it out yet.
If you can, maybe you should delete some stupid answers.
Another solution is to ignore the stupid, and reward the good. If there is no reward for stupid, it will stop answers that are inapropriate.
The one that has begun to bother me is "thanks for the 2 points",
no other comment made. I personally do not care how many points a person has, I care about their opinion. One person said "thanks for the points, this is a stupid question." Not very polite or nice, but at least he gave an opinion.[by the way, he was commenting on someone elses question]
I agree, I wish there was a way to filter out the clueless, the stupid, the points grabbers, and the filthy, but I doubt Yahoo! can filter them all out, or can.We have to do that mostly ourselves for now.
Do what I do, ignore the stupid, give the points to the intelligent. answer. And consider reporting the filthy, to give Yahoo! the chance to filter.
I was reading my mail today, and I got a "Best Answer" notification. I looked at the question, and said, how did I get points, that was far from my best ever response. So I clicked on it. I was the only person who really had anything to say about the topic. The Asker, bless them, agreed with me, and seemed pleased that I aswered. If I had an ego, and was feeling proud of myself for getting best answer points, reading the rest of the responses, or in one "best answer" case, the lack of any other answers [there were 3 answers,], would shoot so many holes in my ego to render it permanently deflated.
Another trend I have noticed, the really good questions, ones that require some thought, are not answered well. I admit to asking one such question, but I was hoping for, and got, some dialogue with the answers.
So please do not give up, keep asking good questions that show some sign of intelligence, there are people out there who will try to answer with some intelligence.
Please forgive me if something is misspelled, spellcheck is "having problems", as usual.

The ones that ask and answer questions, that DO NOT take this forum as an opportunity, to learn , laugh, get help , enjoy other peoples ideas or opinions, those people I think will just get flat out bored and go away on their own. The way you worded your question gave me a tremendous amount of enjoyment, so I hope you won't be the one to get frustrated and go away. There is no easy solution, but since I have personally been doing this, there is a marked change in attitudes of more and more participants., and I haven't been here that long and can see it.

We're actually working on something quite a bit like what you've suggested. I can't say exactly what we're up to or when you'll see it in action though.
Peace,
