    Wow! That's cool!! I grew up in the Bronx. I actually know a lot about NYC and will help you the most that I can. A travel agent isn't necessary. First off the hotel. So you don't want something crowded, but you do want something that is nice enough, but not too expensive. I would suggest the site Orbitz for any traveling things. My favorite hotel in New York is The Holiday Inn Express PARAMUS, in Paramus, NJ right outside of the city. Its very nice and not too far away from everything. Here are the features- * Iron

    * FAX

    * Coffee Maker in Room

    * Modem Lines in Room

    * Desk with Lamp

    * Wireless Internet

    * Ice Machine

    * Laundry/Valet Services

    * Bath Tub

    * Golf

    * Television with Cable

    * Air Conditioned

    * Copy Service

    * Satellite TV

    * AM/FM Alarm Clock

    * Rollaway Beds

    * 24 Hour Front Desk

    * Free Parking

    * Cribs Available

    * High Speed Internet

    * Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliant

    * Safe Deposit Box

    * Parking

    * Hairdryer in Room

    Here's some details-

    The Holiday Inn Express is right where the action in Paramus is. Located right on Route 17 north and in very close proximity to major highways like Route 4, Garden State Parkway, I-80 the Holiday Inn Express is where you want to be whether you are traveling for business or pleasure in and around Paramus. The hot and happening New York City is only a few minutes drive away from the Holiday Inn Express. Hop on to The George Washington Bridge or take the Lincoln Tunnel and you are in Manhattan, New York City®s heartbeat. Shopping can never get closer. Garden State Plaza mall, New Jersey®s largest and busiest mall is across the street from the hotel. With over 285 stores, which include Macy®s, J.C. Penney, Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom and IKEA to name a few, the mall is also a major bus transfer point for New Jersey Transit commuters. Bergen Mall is also minutes away. Throughout your stay you will enjoy our warm and professional hospitality. Start your mornings with our complimentary Express Start breakfast or rejuvenate your body after a long day®s haul with our massaging shower heads. Take advantage of our free Wireless High Speed Internet throughout the hotel. The hotel has free and ample parking spots for the guests, whether you are traveling alone or as part of group. Come experience our Stay Smart hospitality. This hotel is committed to providing accessible facilities under the American Disabilities Act. If your accessibility needs are not met, please contact the Hotel Manager on Duty. Should you require additional information regarding accessible facilities for guests with disabilities, please call 1-800-Holiday (U.S. and Canada) or contact the hotel directly. For the hearing impaired, TDD service is available at 1-800-238-5544 within the U.S. and Canada.

    It is a 3 star very nice hotel.

    Shopping- I imagine you and your friend will want to do some shopping. Just for future info check the site- http://www.ny.com/shopping/ because with out know your ages, etc. and your types of shopping, I can't give you a lot of help, excpt web sites. I like this site- http://www.nycvisit.com/content/index.cfm?pagePkey...

    My favorite store in NYC is the Lord and Taylor on 424 Fifth Avenue at 38th Street, (212) 391-3344, my friends and I loved to visit that one. Also we like the Queen's Center Mall, 90-15 Queens Blvd. @ Woodhaven Blvds., (718) 592-3900 or its website- http://www.shopqueenscenter.com/

    As far as food & resutruants go, I would suggest a NYC food guide. If you like chinese, try China town. Growing up, my friends and I loved going to China town. This is a good site for finding the ride one- http://www.nycvisit.com/memberSearch/searchRestaur...

    Any other questions???

    Wow I had fun looking back on my childhood and I hope you have an awesome trip to NYC. ITs a great place!!! DO lots of touring, and things and enjoy your trip!!

    What I like about New York: The Skyscrapers, I love walking through manhattan and being surrounded by marvels of engineering. The accesibility, all five boroughs are accesible via train 24/7. And even if you dont want to take the train, the island of manhattan is so dense that you could really just walk from the financial district to central park without busting your ***. The 24 hour culture. For instance, there are just as many people on the street at 4am (in certain neighborhoods) as there are people walking around at 4pm I have never really spent much time in London though. The City I Like the most by far is Winston-Salem, North Carolina better that I would take New York or London any day. What I Like about Winston-Salem: The Skyscrapers, I love walking through Downtown Winston-Salem and being surrounded by good structures such as The Wachovia Building, The GMAC Tower, Happy Hills Park near The School of the Arts and Winston-Salem State University, BB&T Ballpark home of The Winston-Salem Dash baseball team, The BB&T Tower next to The Wachovia Building, the very friendly people that owe you in a polite friendly manor $$, this city is relaxing. For example, nice restaurants to eat out at. Some examples are Noma's Italian, The West End Cafe, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Jimmy John's Subs, The Mellow Mushroom Pizza Parlor right there on 1st Street, Thruway Center with The Loop Pizza Grill, The Carving Board, Sociale Gourmet in 380 Knollwood Street among others such as The Fox and The Hound Bar in Lower Thruway and The Diamondback Cafe in a neighborhood called Buena Vista right there near Wake Forest University home of The Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The streets are dead at night but wide awake in the afternoon especially South Stratford Road right off of Business I-40 on the way to Greensboro.

    It kinda depends which part of ny your going. because the best place to visit is in the city, manhattan or queens. Albany and the other parts of the town are waay far away from the city.

    if your going to the city, well most of the best places to go are where the tourists are. probably central park, fifth ave. or times square (where trl is at). its really crowded though. the best place i think that dont have that much tourists is at the village, or the pier. just dont go to bronx or brooklyn, especially at night alone or even with friends. Dont use the subway if you dont know how to use it.

    There's plenty of good shopping in NY if you're interested in that...Union Square, SoHo, Macy's in Herald Square are great for that (Madison & 5th Ave for more expensive shops)

    The Laugh Factory is lots of fun too...good comedy and relatively cheap.

    There's some 18+ night clubs you could go to celebrate being 18...18 and over clubs include Avalon and Webster Hall.

    South Street Seaport is a little outside the city but it's great for shopping and dining, etc.

    Hope this helps!

    first, everythign is expensive, there are tourists here allll year round so the chances of you escaping the tourist craze is slim! lol BUT ny is still a great place for first timers! what type of place would you liek to go to? im not sure if you want to try a club but if you do you can go to www.clubplanet.com for a list of clubs for 18yrs+. 34th is great for shopping, you have macys, a mall, forever 21, h&m, express... alll of the shops girls love! but brace yourselves, it is always crowded there... you also have the empire state building over there the village (west 4th and on) is alot of fun tehres shops and great restaraunts overe there and up on broadway also. ice skating at rockefeller center should be on by then, also at central park. there is a zoo there too. mtv studio is on broadway and 40 something st...(timesquare), again always crowded but you will find lots of things to do and see over there as well. hope this helps. if youneed more info feel free to contact me and i will try my best to help....

    NYC never sleeps so you can go anywhere.

    You must check out Webster Hall, Big Nick's, Central Park, all of Times Square, many more places..

    Sorry, but NY is always crowded with people.. careful crossing the streets here, taxis will run you over!

    The museums are not expensive, and they are arguably some of the best sights in the city. Go see Central Park too, and that's free. Walking around the Village is fun, so is SoHo, and people-watching doesn;t cost anything. If you go to Chinatown, you can get great food at very cheap prices.

    good luck as you will have tourists anytime in New York but you will have fun anyway and dont forget to bring an extra suitcase for the shopping as it is so much cheaper than here , especially designer gear and the dollar is on your side, hit the irish bars and you will have a ball!!!!

    I like Lower Manhattan, nothing much to see in the outer boroughs, I live in Midtown (E 96th) and find much to do below 40th st, Broadway, the villiage, china town, little Italy, good clubs, restaurants etc
