You know he wasn't that bad a guy. He was just doing his job, ho break the arrest people law. And shouldn't he be forgiven.

Christians not only don't blame him, they totally exonerate him.

He represents the kind of politicians we have today who have the power to prevent the innocent from being put to death by an unjust law (abortion) but who give in to social pressures and let the evil deed take place while washing their hands in order to get reelected.

His sin was not as great as those who brought Jesus before Him, but Pontius Pilate was still guilty of a serious sin since he knew that Jesus was innocent but did not exercise his own power to have Jesus released. God can forgive the worst of sins if someone repents and sincerely asks God for forgiveness (a Catholic must also go to confession and be absolved by a priest).

Only God knows for sure what was in the heart of Pontius Pilate, and in the end, God will let us all know what became of him.

By the way, whether or not Pilate or Judas Iscariot would have participated in the killing of Jesus was not going to stop the people who wanted Jesus killed. They would have eventually killed Jesus but by someone other than Pilate or Judas. But since Jesus is God and knows all things, He knew what choice Judas and what choice Pilate would make, and so Jesus used that in His plan for our eternal salvation.

If he sought forgiveness then yes. But he did not seek forgiveness. Instead, he did what he thought was wrong then just told everyone that he can wash his own hands and not be blamed.

His job was to bring justice to a civilized society. But he was not brave enough to do that. He may not have been a bad man. He may not have been good. Who knows and who can quantify that? However, his choice in the matter shows a level of moral weakness and diminished integrity.

If any of us do wrong, try to absolve our own immoral choices, and never ask for forgiveness from the one whom can grant it then should this person be forgiven?

I may have asked for forgiveness. I don't condemn him. God knew Pilot's heart and was just.

Actually, Pilate was forced into a corner by the Jewish priesthood. Caiaphas and Annas had him by the...well, you know.

Yes, Pilate should be forgiven. There is a rumor that He became a Christian later in His life, and was martyred.

He 'was', in fact just following orders, just doing his job. He did not want to 'crucify' Jesus, that was the law! He so not wanted to be involved in such an unjust act, he washed his hands of the act! He gave Jesus time and opportunity to recant, but, didn't understand why Jesus wouldn't and couldn't take him up on it. Jesus was just doing his job, too.

let see, if jesus was SUPPOSED to be tried, beaten and crucified, then no one who played a part in that drama should be held condemned. RIGHT ? That exonerates Pilate, Ciaphius, Judas, Peter, and Mary (for having him)
