Never give up, join chorus, write songs and make CD's, follow your dreams and put yourself out there for the world to see (well, actually, hear) and always be yourself. Do the best you can do. You can do it, girl!

Please don't misunderstand this. In order to be "a very talented singer", you must first have some talent. I think what you really want to know is how do you persue success? What avenues are available? There are so many ways to start that it would be more confusing to list them all rather than to just tell you that the one thing all paths have in common is education. The more you know about your craft, (singing) the better off you'll be when the time or opportunity comes for you to do it for profit.
If you're still a high school student or younger take some music classes in school. Practice! Join a local church that has a good choir and a good director. Practice! Take some piano lessons. Practice!
I'm going to presume that you DO indeed have talent. Good! Practice! Now start studying your favorite singers. If you get the chance to go to a concert or show where one of them is performing, do it! Practice!
Either buy or go to the library and borrow the book "The Songwriter's Market". It's an annual publication that lists a world-wide source of publishers and record companies, etc. but the articles in the front of the book about the practical business of music are really helpful and educational. Read them. Practice!
If you've already graduated from high school, everything I've written still applies just at the college level. And, if you're over 21 then you can go to venues that aren't concerts but are smaller rooms where you can get a more intimate feel of the artists that you're studying.
Practice! Find a good teacher. He or she could be a working professional or a choir director, or a professional teacher, but make sure it's someone whom you think can teach you something as opposed to someone who'll just take your money, and/or waste your time.
That should get you going in the right direction, and if you get stuck and need some help you can always drop me an email I'd be glad to help, (see my profile).
Oh, and did I mention, Practice!

Head shots, voice lessons, music lessons, some acting lessons (this comes in handy), writing classes, song writing classes, work on your signature, make demo tapes or cds, get an agent and a lawyer (you will find out why when you get famous), and you may want to take up an instrument. I wanted to be a famous singer at one time and I was a film extra. It takes a lot of work and a lot of people trying to put you down. If you really want to sing that is great, but be prepared for all of the hard work and sacrifice. It is not that I do not want you to be a singer, but think of Jewel and Kelly Clarkson. Jewel was a waitress, lived in her car, went to a performing arts school, and was a bar singer before becoming famous and Kelly was a waitress and a kareoke singer. None of it is easy. Some people have to really struggle for it.

How old are you ? Genre ? Do you write ? Are you aware you cannot send demos to major record labels ? They will return unopened. Do you have one decent recording now ? Are you aware you need to spend around $7,000 to $8,000 to record 2 songs with a "no label" company ? Where would you get material to record ? Do you have any financial backers ? If I haven't asked enough questions...are you aware this has become a very tough business ? I represent 4 or 5 artists now, some more recognizable than others.

i have no idea, but neither will anyone else on here so dont listen to these people coz they aint no singers either, you gotta have the talent in the first place and very talented people tend to be found, thats all i can say

you cant pursue a talent you either have it or you dont. if you mean FAMOUS singer that changes everything but if in reality you have mediocre talent ..training will help but you wont BE talented..
