Just because someone is in law enforcement doesn't necessarily make them more "controlling" in their personal lives. Would you ask the same question of a high school principal, or any other autority figure?

Many officers off-duty are much more laid back than they are on-duty. You may not believe it if you don't know any personally, but it's true. Surprise! Normal people! Some even have a sense of humor...

I'm sure that some are more controlling, but the same holds true for anyone in any profession...you get your jerks, and you get your nice guys/gals!

This is a really stupid question. Why do you think just because someone is a police officer they would be controlling in their personal life. Any good relationship is 50-50 even for police officers. Granted we look at life very different, but I have no desire to control the entire world.

my father was in law enforcement for over 12 years and never showed aggression related to work at home in any way. Just because law enforcement officers deal with stress alot doesnt automatically mean it becomes present at home or in relationships.

Definately not. They are more likely to stop and talk about a problem they are having because they see daily what happens when people let their problems spill over into violence and other peoples lives. They are protective of their family and privacy. I live with my boyfriend who is a police officer and I could not be happier. You know what they say... Be Safe Tonight, Sleep with a Cop.

It depends on the officer. My husband is a police officer and we control each other. If he gets out of line I correct it and vice versa.

some can be and some are controlled by thier spouses.

They are like butchers, walmart clerks, taxi drivers, mechanics, and plumbers, no two people are the same, some have some traits and others have other types.

There is no "one type" of person who is a police officer

My DH is a police officer and I couldn't ask for a more supportive and loving husband. After almost 18 years, I am still madly in love with him.

Some are overly controlling in all aspects of their personal lifes and some to the point of abuse.

I, myself, am controlling when it comes to their safety and who they are allowed to deal with or things like that. I don't play when it comes to my family. They know it.. they live by it.. they except it and most days appreciate it.

Some might be, many are not. All the officers I know aren't.
