No, we learn so many ways to improve our lives on earth from experiments conducted in space and the technology that they develop for space projects.
Plus, our grand children are going to need somewhere else (out there) to emigrate because of how bad we are screwing up this planet.

Space advances are the next step in mankinds development. Like they say in Star Trek."to boldy go where no one has gone before."
Hell, head start , PBS, & Amtrak are more of a waste of money.

Well if the Earth was in danger then no, it isn't a waste, but if they are sending space shuttles in space for nothing, then yes.
