Yes you can if you know their service provider most allow you to text via the web. For example Verizon allows you to text their clients though their web portal....but there might be a program out there that allows you to text any type of cell phone with out needing to go through the providers web site.

Go to the cell phone provider internet websit and you can text message for free if they have text message on their phone. Example go to Cingular.com, send text message. Trust me.

bear in mind, they cannot text you back that way, so include any pertinant contact info

Yes you can. If they use T-Mobile, you go to tmobile.com and there is a place you can SMS then while at your computer. I'm pretty sure you can do it with most companies but I've only ever used T-mobile. Hope this helps!

I only know that if you have cingular and the other person has cingular you can go to the cingular website and send a text to a cingular phone. dont know about the other carriers. you may want to check thier sites and see.
