driving is the best expecially right now with the heat around the states. Dogs can not be shipped as it is too deadly. Think of your car closed up tight as the belly of the plane is the same thing. Camping is a great time for you and your dog. We used to go all the time when we had two canines.

If your dog is small enough, you could purchase a small crate and bring the dog as a carry-on (costing about $99 per way depending on airline). Only two dogs are allowed in economy, so check in early and call the airline in advance. Because of the heat in Florida, I would not recommend checking the dog. Plus I don't think airlines accept dogs if the temperature is over 80 degrees. Driving poses its own set of challenges but if your dog likes to ride in cars without getting sick and you don't mind taking longer to drive there, then drive the dog down there.

I guess you want to take your dog with you. We have a camp ground for dogs near our city where you leave your dog while you go on your own vacation. By the sounds of it the dog probably has a better time then we would. Anyway I would defiantly drive. I have heard some dogs get traumatized by plains.

Driving is best. An airplane cargo area is no place for a live animal (some have died). My sister flew with her greyhound once....and had to change planes...she watched in horror as her poor dog sat in the middle of the tarmac for like an hour in the hot sun in his crate...poor thing. Drive.

Drive. Don't submit others to your pet.
