How do iI adjust the valves on a 74 chevy 350 without the motor running?
My exhaust is to loud to adjust by the rattle of the rockers. I need to adjust them but I cant hear them if they rattle.

Take the valve covers off and turn the motor over till the 2 valves that you are going to adjust are closed and tighten them till they touch and then turn them one quarter to one half turn more. Then turn the motor over till the next set are closed. follow this procedure all the way around the heads. It is also a good idea while you are doing this to loosen the rockers before tightening them at all. hope I have been helpful.
