Kimberlite is an igneous rock that is usually greyish-black to light in color due to the mineral content.
Ultramafic kimberlite contains magnesium which gives it the rich dark color.
Some contain potassium which lends a lighter shade.

Kimberlite Pipes are produced by a "Jet" of Ultramafic material which normally consists of the Darker mafic minerals such as Olivene. Unfortunately the pipes blast their way through the overburden to get to the surface, there is little time for inclusions to be absorbed and there are often large amounts of relatively intact country rock within the rock. As such colour is not a good indicator of a Kimberlite (or of any rocktype).
If you are looking for Kimberlites you need to look for circular depressions in the ground containing a darkish rock type with plenty of weird rocks thrown in. Kimberlites are the major sources of diamonds on this planet so finding some might not be as easy as all that.
