I have a male canary now who sings....but I'm wondering, if he dies at some point....how do you choose a canary for its singing ability, which kinds sing the prettiest? Thank you.

I have a young canary who sings. Its a male, so go for a male, as only male canaries sing. My advice is to get one from a breeder, because the staff at pet shops generally cannot tell the sex of them.

There are many kinds of Canary's. It is only the male who sings, it is his way to call a mate. I, myself prefer the crested. It is a matter of your choice.

I just clicked on here because I thought that question would make for a fabulous title of a poem. Mind if I use?

Of course it will have to be a male, the color wont matter.
