Because the CD you have is the basic need for every computer and the software have been set only to detect it.However, Window XP is like that not like before 98,2000,me and more. Well, window XP is the best software and inside that have all component driver. That is why we need cd writing software.

Lack of functionality. If you just want to copy some files to a cd using Windows is fine, and quite easy. However, if you want to accomplish something like writing MP3 files into a CDA format so that they can be played on a regular CD player then you need additional software for that purpose.

Because the windows writing software is not as flexible, and some other cd software won't recognise the cds if it were written using XP.

because the features inside of the windows CD writing is primative at best. There are a ton of features it doesn't have that other programs, like Nero, allow you to perform and perform better. For example, I wouldn't go burning and iso file with XP!

The bottom line is Windows writing software is extremly extremly slow!

    Its work like slow motion!

And, eh...I don't see my XP offering to burn DVD's either, which Nero does with ease...
