If anyone on here knows anything about the Unemployment benefits appeals process can you please help me?

My hubby applied for Unemployment benefits and he was denied. He decided to appeal it. So, he had his hearing by phone today with the Judge, but the company did not show up to represent themselves and state their side of the case. So, my question is this, is it likely that we will win the case because they didn't show up?

Thank you in advance to all who answer this question.

Yes! Your Husband will win because the judge will base his or her decision on the information at hand, which is your husbands statement.

If you are in the UK, and it doesn't sound like you are, you could go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau. I worked there for 20 years, so in my experience , if the other side doesn't show up, it doesn't necessarily mean that you win by default. Unfortunately.

But I never heard of an appeal in UK being heard over the phone, so I'm not qualified to speak about other countries' processes, sorry. Don't you have welfare rights advisers where you live?

  • Its easier and faster to just get another job, I would let him know that.
