How to increase shoe size?

Does anyone know any way to marginally increase the size of their shoe? Even by half a size by just stretching the leather?

I vaguely remember Roald Dahl has a technique of putting shoes in a bag of water then freezing them... I just can't remember if this shrunk them or increased their size? Anyone else remember?

You can purchase shoe stretchers to put inside the shoe and adjust so that they will cause some stretch...

I can't see how wetting and freezing a leather shoe would be good for the leather...or the stitching...

    How To Increase Shoe Size

  • 1 decade ago

I know how to increase my foot size! And that was by getting pregnant. Funny how that worked. Get pregnant, get bigger feet. I guess that's so the mom has something to stand on when walking the screaming baby, or to balance all the extra weight better.

To stretch out a pair of leather shoes, get them wet and stretch them while wet. How do I know this? Getting my leather shoes wet while wearing them and not being able to change out of them. Shoes finally fit again after the second baby.

Yep, went up a half size, never went back to what it was. That was only the first time though, they didn't get get bigger each pregnancy. This doesn't seem to happen to everyone but sometimes adaptation to weight gain and loss, muscular imbalance and pregnancy can permanently change foot size. This is due to changes in the ligaments, tendons, and muscles within the foot, followed by subtle changes in the joints and spreading of the bones. The result is a normal enlargement of the foot which may be so gradual that sometimes it goes unnoticed.

It. would increase the size, as would putting on your shoes wet, with an extra pair of thick socks on then wearing them until they dried. There are places that sell boots that tell you to put your new boots on wet, with bare feet, and wear them until dried to prevent blisters from forming.

Don't even try. Take the shoes back and get the correct size or you will be miserable wearing the shoes that don't fit.

What? Your shoe size is what it is.. you can't stretch the sole, even if you could stretch the leather... why not just the right size for your feet?
