What could be the problem with my car? (2001 VW Jetta Wolfsburg)?
Friday my car started acting up. It was fine up until I picked up dh. I called him when I got there & he said he'd be out in a minute, so I sat with the car running. 1 minute turned into almost 20 minutes of me sitting in a still car with the AC running. (I mention that because I'm not sure if that is what caused the problem or not.)
Dh drove home. Going up hills & stuff, my car struggled. Like it's losing power. The longer we drive, the worse it gets. When we come to a stop, it all but stalls. The RPM's go way down & the car shakes. Pulling out out from a stop, it goes really, really slow for a little as it's very slowly building speed (even if the pedal is to the metal) & then once it hits a certain RPM, it goes ok. But it has to be over a certain RPM (I think like 3000 or so) or else it's all but dead. We have to keep it in a lower gear. (Manual transmission.)
I'm going to try to get it into a garage tomorrow, but I was just wondering what this could be & what it's gonna cost.

If I knew what engine does your car have I'd be more specific. Assuming it's 2.0 gas engine:
Lots of things could be wrong, but first, I'd think about spark plugs because when you leave the car idling for a long time they can get soaked with oil and the car can start misfiring.
Assuming that before that incident with long idle you didn't have any problems, a tune-up with new ignition wires, plugs and throotle body cleaning would be a first thing to do.
If it's different engine, it could be something else.
I'd suggest to visit your VW dealer at least for proper diagnostic.

You have a foul brake disk, -- it has gotten too sizzling, and made "tough spots" ,- which put on slower than the leisure of the disk, so the width of the disk varies because it turns! So it usualy begins out vey slight and no longer rarely seen, however because the disk wears extra it turns into worse! This can also be solved by way of taking to a "brake keep" and feature them "flip the disks" on a computer, this "cuts" a bit of off each and every facet until they're the identical width all of the means round! Hopefully there may be nonetheless sufficient that they are able to be "became", - if no longer you are going to need to exchange ones that don't seem to be useable! One or each can also be unhealthy! You will also be capable to think a bit of "pulsing" at the brake pedal oftentimes too!
