Interior car roof liner repair help needed!?

Adding to Gary Gearfreak's instructions:

Make sure you completely remove the old fabric liner and the any adhesive remaining on the headliner. Use a bristle brush to rub off all the old adhesive and vaccuum well. Any old adhesive will prevent a good attachment to your new layer of adhesive.

You also can try spraying the new adhesive in 2 coats - one in the long direction and second in the short direction - to get full coverage. Then lay the new fabric over the headliner from the center and roll it out towards the corners. Smooth all the wrinkles and trim the edges. Leave a 1-2 inches overhang on the front windshield side, spray adhesive on it and tuck it over to get a nice edge for the front.

Cut any openings for dome lights, etc and install the reverse of the removal.

That ceiling comes out in one piece. Not fun,but can be done without an act of Congress. remove sun visors, mirror[I know that this isn't attached to the top, but you'll need this space to slide that panel down and out], dome light, and the plastic moldings the help to hold that panel in place. lay that thing upside down, and strip the old liner off the panel. I have found that Wally World sells several kinds of material that is like sweatshirts that work best. Get two cans of the 3-M adhesive and follow the directions to the letter. I have found that it is best to do 1/2 at a time being sure to coat both surfaces. AFTER THOUGHT!!!-------It is best to start at one side and spay about 6 inches then lay and rub to ensure contact. Next-with the material laid back over the area you just finished, spray the next 6 inches on both surfaces----this will mean that you have sprayed a 12 inch wide strip for the full length of your work area--- continue until you've worked all the way across!

Roof liner, of what car? Restore??? Perhaps your better of with a vinyl sheet, that you can put up with a frame and some handy glue... The frame... you could make from the spokes of an umbrella,. Some have hollow ends that you can fit together, perhaps those of bicycle wheel will due the trick to .....Of course you'd have to know your way around a welding apparatus with electrode's fitted for aluminum work

I have a 1994 Saturn. The roof liner fabric (looks like some sort of microfiber?) is separating from the foam on the interior roof. I have tried a regular spray on adhesive, but it didn't work. Please help. Thanks!

The only cheap way I have been able to do it and make it look good is to drop the roof panel out and pull all of the material off. Then I will get generic automotive carpet from Wally world and some carpet glue. Glue it on and let it set overnight before turning the pad upside down. It looks nice and works very well. Good luck.

3m makes a "super adhesive", i've only seen it in large aerosol cans(probably like 12 oz). it goes for about 17.00.

worth every penny.

do not try to do this project in the current heat wave. it will only result in lots of swearing. heat and humidity stop glue from coagulating properly. do it some time in the evening if it must be done now. (i know how annoying those damn things are!)

You can get different offers on repairing , its just need to select right services.

if the fabric is real bad, I have removed it, and painted a enamel paint over it with a brush. Right over the foam, and it looked good enough to fool a dealer.

the only thing that I have ever sean is replace it I have tried glue in never works right

how about gorilla clear tape: shove one piece inside and another over that like two-sided tape repair?
