If he knew he was going to be tested for drugs, why would Landis (or any other athlete) use them?

From SI.com "Tests show that some of the testosterone in Floyd Landis' system at the Tour de France was synthetic and not naturally produced by his body as he claimed, according to a newspaper report." All athletes are tested after a race and they know it. Why use them if you know you will be caught?

I think it's because he needed to make a quick recovery. After falling from 3rd to 11th, he needed to do something quick in the tough Alps or else fall out of contention for the win. I guess testosterone was the only solution for him. I'm guessing the suppliers told him that it would go undetected.

Because the people who provided the substances told him they were undetectable.

    WRONG!
