It's hard to say based on just one part. Those forms are processed giving different areas different wieghts when computing the overall score.

It's best to try to get your verifiable assets down as much as possible. Which means, try withdrawing from checking accounts and keep money as cash. You're suppose to report cash as a current asset, but that's like reporting that dollar you found on the ground one time as income with your taxes(which you are suppose to include) Keep money as cash for a while and slowly deposit it back in after filling out the fafsa. They cannot verify cash, but they can verify checking and saving accounts. I'm not sure what the cutoff is for reducing eligibility, but keep your accounts realistic to avoid suspicion. Keep a couple hundred dollars in your checking and savings accounts. A few hundred will not have a big impact. I hope this helps!

doesn't matter. just list your total assets.
why doesn't it matter? fasfa is the free application for FEDERAL student aid. if you lie on the form, you are submitting a false document to the government, which can carry civil and criminal penalties.

Don't list any assets that they can't verify. For example, you don't have to tell them about the 10,000 you have buried in your backyard.
