How long are dogs pregnat? and how far apart can they have puppies?

9 weeks gestation. How far apart depends on the individual dog and how often she comes in season. Smaller breeds come in season closer to every 6 months, larger breeds can be 8 or more months apart.
Now ask yourself, if you are planning on breeding, is the dog purebred? Is she a good representative of her breed? Will she pass all recommended health checks for her breed? Is she fully mature? Are you ready for the vet bills? Does she have a good temperment? What will you do if there are complications, some breeds require a c-section every time they are bred. Are you going to be able to find RELIABLE homes for all the puppies. If the answer to any of these is no, then DON"T do it. There are millions of dogs that die in shelters every year, and 25% are purebred dogs that people just decided they didn't want anymore. Get her spayed, and if you can't afford it call 1-800-321-PETS or local ASPCA for help. Spaying will also cut her chances of developing cancer later in life.

Is your dog pregnant, in labor, or do you have a planned breeding.
If she's pregnant, 63 days is the normal gestation period.
If she's in labor, puppies can be minutes to hours apart.
If you have a planned breeding: YOU SHOULD BE ASKING MUCH MORE QUESTIONS THAN THIS, AND WAY BEFORE YOU HAVE BRED.
Otherwise, the smartest, "most caring thing for your animal to do" is SPAY/NEUTER.
WHAT THE....
2 to 3 months? NO 63 DAYS
AND NO, THEY CAN NOT GET PREGNANT RIGHT AFTER THEY HAVE PUPPIES, "THEY ARE NOT RABBITS!"
THEY CAN NOT GET PREGNANT AGAIN UNTIL THEY HAVE ANOTHER HEAT CYCLE, "USUALLY 2 HEAT CYCLES PER YEAR".
I'm sorry, but sheesh!

Normal gestation in dogs is 58 to 68 days (the average is 63 days). A dog can become pregnant as many as four times a year if being bred, but for health reasons it is recommend that they not bread more than twice a year.

59 to 63 days is the average gestation period. Its a shame you bred your dog without knowing anything about it as its the innocent puppies that will suffer.
Some bitches whelp very quickly while others can take up to 2 hours between puppies. If she takes any longer than that, you need to get her into a vet for a c-section. Don't forget your checkbook!

I believe it is 62 days or so.
health wise, it's best to give them some time before they get pregnant again, it's not good for them to pop out puppies one litter right after the other, but the dog can get pregnant as soon as it's in heat again.

Are you wanting to breed your dog and what reasons? Before you decide to breed any dog, get info on the breed, talk to other breeders, and your vet. Dont do it just for money or because it is "cute", be responsible, way too many dogs/cats in our animal shelters.

2 to 3 months and they can get pregnant right after their puppies are weened, but it is harder on your dog if it happens that way!
