Do you believe that there is a such thing as a dream job?

    Great question.

Certainly there are those who engage in a "Job" that is a passion to them, that also creates income, among other benefits, and they are likely happier for the experience.

Many of us WORK because of it being a function rather than a form. We have basic needs, and facilitate those by doing something that helps supply those.

I have few PASSIONS, but explore them limitlessly, when allowed, or when I allow some sacrifice with regard to "what can I gain?"

My strict feeling is, that once anything becomes "WORK" it will lose itself in whatever desire we had to accept the challenge initially, and become mundane routine, at best. We may still have to compromise to maintain ourselves through that,,,but in that case it's critical that we engage some part of ourselves in passions that add to, rather than detract from US.

Beyond that,,, IDEAL is subjective and relative. What seems so for you,,, may not feel ideal to me,,, so to sum up,,, I can't imagine any answers here being right or wrong,,,even beer taster,,,smiles,,, thanks for that one. It's as personal as intimacy, religion, politics, etc.

Yes - I am watching my husband MAKE his dream job right now.

My husband has always worked in many different jobs. Then he got his degree, and we tried opening our own stained glass business in Florida. Ha - needless to say our business did not take off. So we were back at square one.

My husband decided to go for his dream - public speaking and radio. He got a weekend job doing promotions for a radio station. He has worked for only 3 months and is now full time doing many things but most important doing a Friday and Saturday show. Soon he'll move into the drive-home spot. It's so cool to watch what he is doing.

He is truly BUILDING his JOB. He's learning everyone's job - how the systems work, what their tasks are, etc. When he was part-time - he took tasks from everyone to get the experience and the hours. Because he knows so many different aspects now, he integrates and has become a huge member of the team. Already before he got the fulltime offer - he has apprenticed himself to the Engineer as well. My husband is well on his way of knowing not only all of the internal software/computer/radio workings, but he will know all of the hardware too.

Never know - if we get the money - maybe in some years, we'll build our own radio station.

This JOB BUILDING can be done by everybody and anybody - even a janitor or yard worker. You just have to talk and ask for the tasks (people are always willing to dump tasks on you). If anyone in the company discourages this behavior then you know you are in a no-where company that may not deserve your loyalty long term.

Absolutely...few people have what they consider to be a 'dream job' but they certainly exist...it just depends on what you want, and what your 'dream job' would be, and how realistic it is that you'd get such a position...

Yes. If you have a passion all through life then there is a job out there that when you wake up you'll be excited to do. I've loved art since I was a little kid and it would be my dream to become a computer animator for films or games.

Yes. And like a dream, sometimes your job goes well, & sometimes it's like a nightmare. But in the end, what matters is that you want to go to work on most days.

Sure but it's hard to get one cause those who are in a dream job never leave. It's like any creative position.

No. Personally, my dream job was to work from home - but those so called work from home jobs do not exist. Most of them appear to be scams or want money!
