well that way you have to buy 8 packages of hot dogs, and 10 (8 in a pack) packages of hot dog buns or 6 packages of hot dogs and 5 (12 in a pack) hot dog buns before it all evens out. that way you have to buy more. smart marketing technique.

It has to do with the size of the packaging. Hebrew National comes in packages of 7. Why? Because a package of 8 would be too unstable to ship in grocery containers. Nathan's dogs come in packages of 8 because they've figured out how to make it stable.

That way, you'll have to buy 5 packages of hotdogs and 4 or 6 packages of buns to make them come out even..

10 hot dogs equal one pound.

Sandwich rolls were always sold in clusters of eight. The pans to bake hot dog buns were two sets of four

It is a conspiracy by math teachers to make us buy enough packages of each product for the sum of the products to be equal.
