why did zidane head butt materazzi in the final of fifa world cup 2006?

Just think yourself in the place of Zidane. It's a result of continued provocation from materazzi. It's a worst strategy applied by Italians to get rid of Zidane, because they knew win would not have been possible if Zidane was on the field.

APPARENTLY materazzi insulted zidane's sister and mother and zidane being zidane couldnt take it up and decided to head butt materazzi and end his career with a red card

Materazzi said to him "Dirty Terrorist" which to Zidane was an insultation on his mother and sister because Zidane's mom and dad are from the dirty country of Algeria.
