What's the point of the Universe ?

Why is the universe so large, and the stars and planets so far apart, that we can almost never expect to reach even the nearest star ? What's the point of it all, it must be there for a reason ?

einstein couldnt conceive a unification theory to have 1 point or reason to explain everything. string theory is the current "maybe" but its wild & unproven. check out pbs program.

easy way is to say "god" but that dont explain a hell of a lot. did i make a joke?

Why must it be there for a reason? And if there is a reason, why would you, as a tiny creature on a tiny planet in an obscure corner of that universe, expect to understand the reason? Humans want to find a reason for everything, and when they can't, they ascribe it to a God. As far as we know, there is no point to the unverse, no broader theme. It just IS.
