Try resetting the keyboard. I have a notebook and when this type of thing happens, I log off the computer, unplug everything attached to it....remove the battery....and let the computer sit for 30 minutes or more. Then when I turn it on and re-boot the keyboard works just fine.
I know that desktop computers have a reset button, but since I have never used a desktop, I couldn't tell you where the reset button is.

Not worth fixing them

Try a system restore. Go to start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System restore.
